We love our wonderful new playground!!
This is the second week on term 2 and aside from a few days of full on rain, we have been able to fully enjoy exploring our new playground.
We feel so privileged to have such a beautiful environment for the children to play and explore in.
The sun is shining and it has inspired children in different ways:
The long pipes have come out for racing cars down. This has been so much fun. What happens when your car gets stuck? How do you get it out again? The boys have had to use their problem solving skills to retrieve their cars.

We have had some lovely little tea parties happening in the tree house. Anyone for sand flavoured cup cakes and muddy green tea?

Our new slide is a big hit!!

... and some of our children even had a go at rock climbing up and over our rocky water fall.

Even our resident rabbit Sparkle is thrilled with his new enclosure. Now he is able to run free during the day and he gets put in his cage at the end of the day. Sparkle has also discovered how tasty the beans are that are growing in our vegetable garden. He is trying to hide so we can't see him but we know he's there, can you spot him?

We are so looking forward to our official opening on Saturday the 18th - 11 am till 1 pm. We hope you can come along and enjoy the festivities. See you there!
Kindergarten I Pad
We are now the proud owner of an I Pad for use at kindergarten. During the holiday break of the first term Dale and her daughter Felicity loaded on some appropriate apps for the children to access. These were apps that provided extension of maths, language and literature (interactive books), some science, drawing and book making apps plus a few games such as Angry Birds. Some of the children have already discovered this and it has proved very popular with us being able to identify some experts that the other less confident children can seek out for help. Among these are Destin, Ben and Nathan who all know their way around the I Pad which is great for the teachers as some are more proficient than others. I am a real beginner and willing to learn from the children while Leanne is already an I Pad user of some skill. Lucky her.
We can already see some great uses for this special piece of technology especially around the book writing app which allows the children to publish their own stories almost immediately - that is if we can work out how to connect to the printer. A job for our very able administrator - Louise with the assistance of her special man Nick.

We say goodbye and thank you to our wonderful landscape builders, Dan, Adam and Rob
We have learnt so much from watching each stage of our playground develop and we have been very fortunate to have wonderful builders such as Dan, Rob and Adam who have worked so hard in the sweltering heat at times to get our outdoor upgrade finished.
We have appreciated the time they have taken to stop and listen and answer all our questions, to engage in friendly and informative conversations with all our children. The children have witnessed such great role models hard at work, using all sorts of machinery and tools which has inspired some wonderful investigations and meaningful learning, conversation groups, detailed drawings and re-ignited interest in carpentry and other kinds of constructive activities.

We had a special morning tea to show our thanks and appreciation. The children sung a special song to the tune of the wheels on the bus, with lyrics adjusted to describe our builders.
"The builders at Kindy,...
...work very hard,
...go hammer, hammer, hammer
... go saw, saw, saw
... go dig, dig, dig
... are very strong
You get the idea!

Unfortunately Dan was unable to attend our morning tea. Apart from being the Boss of the tradesmen, Dan was the our ukulele playing expert who often played with us and with the children. He even attended one of our mat times to play along with us all. Thanks Dan

But early in term 2 we will be having an official opening of our playground which he will try to come to. All the children and their families are invited, it will be an exciting event which the committee are planning, so keep an eye out for more details to come.
So... We give a huge big THANK YOU to our wonderful builders, Dan, Rob, and Adam (and of course Gin, Adam's dog) We are all going to miss having them around.
