Self Portrait Screen printing continues...

Tuesday dawned with a very busy art area - not only were children drawing plans and beginning the self portrait process, we were like a' production line' with children keen to embellish their prints from yesterday.

 Ellie begins her plan

 Tiana cuts her head

Capable printers were able follow the process completely unaided  - this demonstrates a competent learner.

 Lace's 3rd print

Check out those legs!!

 Selecting bits and pieces

Here's the third print embellished...

Abigail has only done a couple of screen prints since starting Kindergarten but she had big plans - to make "me and my boyfriend....that's Jason"

And she returned on Friday to embellish her print.

Don't they make a lovely pair.

Other's required a little assistance but it was great to observe peers supporting one another and children working alongside each other.

Henry was an eager beaver to do a print on Monday morning

returning on Tuesday to embellish himself.  He was definite in what he was going to wear...

..blue clothes...

 "I have a pink face".

...and then made his mum.

Delfina is very excited about her family, with her Grandparents visiting from Argentina and a precious little sister, so what better way to demonstrate her love...

Her plan...

... creating the people...

...printing...

...peeling back...

...Yay, printed.

Then she returned on Thursday to embellish her print...
She even overcame her fear of the glue gun and was a master user by the end of her embellishing!

Lucia was so eager to embellish her print that was hanging to dry, she found an old print, applied today's colour and went about embellishing it by adding a piece of fabric for a dress and using a vivid to draw her face.

Wow!  Lucia I love your resourcefulness.  You certainly demonstrated being a reflective learner too by planning and revising (adapting along your way).

Jaihe fancied drawing two people - with limited English she was still able to make her desires known....

She drew her plan and re-drew her people...

...Jaihe is familiar with the printing process...

She also returned on Friday to embellish...

I love the glitter border you added to the bottom of your print.

Isabella also created two - herself and her dad.

Finley, Lila and Ellie spend a lot of time together at Kindergarten and they also enjoyed the self portraits, returning to make quite a few between them!

Finley...
....on Monday

Back to embellish on Tuesday

and another Finley masterpiece...

Finley was pretty happy with his creations.

Lila was busy...

Starting on Monday with a print, then again on Tuesday with embellishing and more printing.

 "I'm gonna do some grass".

Ellie, completed one print but returned to it daily adding a little bit each day...

Tiana, created both her mum and herself.  She was delighted by the idea of Mummy having brown hair and Tiana had blond hair.  She carefully selected the appropriate colours...

Molly also created her family...

James demonstrates a creative streak too...

and then he embellished
 using sellotape.

 ... glitter.

Haley
Her plan had curved arms so she decided to use pipe cleaners or something similar when she embellishes it rather than try and make shaped arms on her print.  Good thinking, Haley.

"it's upside down, it looks like she sleeping on a bed" states Hayley as her print is revealed.

Zane, who took on a big task for his very first screen was delighted with the end product. Though he did comment part way through the process, "it's taking for ages".

Throughout the week it was a hive of industry with printing in it's usual place but embellishing took up almost every available space.
